The Forge: Submission Guidelines

Submissions are open to all currently enrolled VCSU students, faculty, and staff.  Dual credit/Early Entry students must specify, “Dual Credit/Early Entry” on their title page.

Each writing entry must be submitted as a Word document. All images must be in JPEG form (with at least 300 dpi).​​​

 

Please include a title page with the following for each submission:

Your Name

Title of Entry

Category of Entry​

Please do not have visible names/signatures on your work (including any page headings), so it can be judged anonymously.

Prizes per category:

1st Place: $30

2nd Place: $20

3rd Place: $10

*Dual Credit/Early Entry submissions are ineligible for monetary awards​

The Forge does not accept work that has been generated by artificial intelligence.  The editors believe that art, literary, and academic work should be expressions of the human spirit, not AI.  Any work submitted with the help of AI will not be considered for publication.

The Forge is a National Council of Teachers of English Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) First Class award-winning publication.
